Rui Hachimura – Biography

Rui Hachimura was born on February 8, 1998, in Toyama, Japan, to a Japanese mother, Makiko, and a Beninese father, Zakari Jabil. His given name, “Rui,” means “base” or “fortress” in Japanese, a name his grandfather bestowed upon him due to his early passion for baseball. Growing up, Hachimura played both pitcher and catcher in baseball.
