According to Jake Fischer’s report on Yahoo Sports, both the Lakers and Rockets have been deemed less probable destinations for the 30-year-old big man, despite their prior interest in acquiring him via trade.

In fact, there’s a possibility that Drummond might not be traded at all. Fischer highlighted that the Bulls, currently eyeing a postseason berth, could opt to retain their key players for a late-season push.

With a current record of 24-27, they sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, positioning them for potential inclusion in the play-in tournament.

Andre Drummond Are Playing On Expiring Contracts

However, it’s evident that Chicago faces significant challenges. Injuries have sidelined key players like Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball for the remainder of the season, leading to inconsistent performances throughout the campaign. Given the circumstances, a strategic shift towards a rebuild appears more prudent, especially considering that both DeMar DeRozan and Drummond are playing on expiring contracts.

Furthermore, with Alex Caruso’s contract set to expire after the next season, it’s likely that many core players may not feature in the Bulls’ long-term plans. This raises questions about their readiness to contend for a deep playoff run in the near future.

Drummond’s recent performances have bolstered his trade value, with notable contributions such as a double-double of 16 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks in a recent victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Andre Drummond’s Frontcourt Presence Is The Philadelphia 76ers

He has also achieved double-digit scoring figures in five of his last eight games, further enhancing his appeal to potential suitors.

One team that could benefit from Drummond’s frontcourt presence is the Philadelphia 76ers. Fischer identified them as a potential suitor, particularly in light of Joel Embiid’s knee injury. Acquiring Drummond would provide additional depth and bolster their chances in their win-now mode of operation.

Considering the circumstances, it appears more plausible to envision Drummond donning a 76ers jersey in the near future rather than joining the Lakers or Rockets.
