The Los Angeles Lakers have fired head coach Darvin Ham after just two seasons. This decision seems to be influenced by their All-Star player, Anthony Davis. At 31 years old, Davis is a key player for the Lakers, and the team’s management made this move partly because of his feelings about the coach.
Sam Amick from The Athletic shared on “The Rich Eisen Show” that Davis was a major factor in this decision.

Amick said that Davis did not support Ham anymore, and the Lakers’ owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka did not want to upset Davis.
They remembered that Davis had asked to be traded before, which is how he joined the Lakers from New Orleans. The team wanted to avoid Davis getting frustrated and thinking about leaving again.
Anthony Davis had a strong season, playing in 76 regular season games
Davis had a strong season, playing in 76 regular season games. He averaged 24.7 points with a 55.6% shooting rate, 12.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game. He was fourth in the Defensive Player of the Year voting and became the best player on the team, even more so than 39-year-old LeBron James.
Despite this, the Lakers had a 47-35 record and were eliminated in the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets in just five games.
The Lakers are now looking for a new head coach, which will be Davis’s third coach in his six seasons with the team. The first coach he played under, Frank Vogel, led the Lakers to a championship in his first season but was also fired after three seasons.
The team hopes that the new coach can work well with Davis and lead them to more success in the future.
