Wembanyama, who is 7 feet 4 inches tall with an 8-foot wingspan, quickly became a top rim protector. However, he still needs to get stronger to compete with more physical centers.

In their first game against each other on December 14, Davis scored 37 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and made four steals. Wembanyama responded with 30 points, 13 rebounds, three steals, and six blocks. Doing this against Davis, who is known for his strong defense, should help the rookie feel more confident going into his second season.

Davis respects Wembanyama and named him one of the hardest players to guard this year. Davis spoke about him on the Join the Lobby podcast. He said, “Wemby is really good. People thought he was too small to play in the NBA, but he proved them wrong.

When we played in San Antonio, we both scored a lot of points. After the game, I told the broadcasters that Wemby is really good. He can handle the ball and shoot well. Once he gets stronger, he will be even better. Chet Holmgren is also good, but Wemby stands out.”

In his first season, Wembanyama won Rookie of the Year, made the All-Defensive First Team, and finished second in Defensive Player of the Year. He will only get better, and next season should have more exciting games against Davis.
